The Apiaries
We have apiaries throughout West Cornwall in a variety of location types. We do not move bees from crop to crop as this would create stress for the bees. It would be simpler to concentrate the colonies, however this geographic distribution serves several purposes;-
- Having many apiaries means we can supply more people with honey local to them (within 3 miles is recommended for conditions such as hay fever)
- Different apiaries produce a range of different honeys. These can vary greatly in terms of colour, taste, aroma, and texture.
- Having fewer colonies in one location minimises the threat from disease outbreak.
Our apiaries are on various types of land, including Community Farms, Organic Farms, Country Estates, Stables and Educational facilities. We are extremely grateful to the landowners for their generosity and are glad to be able to assist with pollination and the health and diversity of the environment in and around the various locations.
If you are considering having bees on your land, or know someone else who is, then please contact us.
